Farewell

Hello everybody.

It’s not a see you later, it’s a good bye. I will be continuing my blogging experience  with https://entirelywithenvy.blogspot.com/. I have had a good run with this blog and have enjoyed creating content for it. However, due to some changes I felt it necessary to go with the flow and do something positive. Thanks for the understanding and hope you will continue reading at this new site.

Tune In Thursday

I am thinking of starting one more blog that incorporates my new username somehow. I am out of ideas at the moment but it’s not something I am not acting on just yet. It actually requires a lot of thought to come up with a blog title that’s going to last and then don’t get me started on content. It is still something I find enjoyable.

Anyways, not talking about that kinda tune in even though it has a nice ring to it. I am actually discussing music. Ed Sheeran is one of my favorite musicians out there. I have all of his albums thus far and listen to them regularly. I keep them together because I know when I listen to one I want more. He just released that he’s coming out with a collaboration album this summer. Majority of the time, I’d be thrilled at new music coming. After the release with his first single featuring the Bieber, I am actually skeptical and apprehensive. It all depends on this new single that’s going to be released I think maybe tomorrow.

It’s a busy year for music. Adele keeps saying that she’ll be releasing new music but don’t know if that’s true or not. And good old Taylor Swift is also dropping an album. We shall see.

Picture Perfect Entry

Hello.

After taking a break from the platform, I am back on and here to stay. Not constantly changing usernames, bios, etc. Even though I see myself as being creative with those opportunities, it could come across as annoying. I left the media because it was getting to be too much. If it’s like that again then learn to take a break. Sometimes it’s healthy and needed. So I spoke about some of the negatives but here are some of the positives:

- Instagram is no longer a new site to use. It’s actually a staple when being connected. Almost everyone has an account.
- It’s fun. Just taking a photo, choosing or not choosing a filter, and sharing it with your audience is all part of the Instagram experience. With that said, you don’t have to share every picture just the ones you like.
- It’s free. There are no bells and whistles. One can just simply go to the App Store and download it onto their device. It can also be found in a Google search link if having trouble finding the right one.
- Inspiration. Whether there’s a celebrity one wants to follow to a simple creative account. There’s something one can find to enjoy.
- Different features. Yes, this can sometimes be a struggle with it’s many updates and changes to make it better. Videos and stories can make your Instagram more interesting and personal.

So like many things there are advantages and disadvantages to something that’s popular.

Pieces of Coal Entry

The other day I came across a quote that really stuck to me. It wasn’t directly quoted but said, “She’s a diamond that wants to stay coal.” And I felt that because in a lot of ways I feel as though I can relate. I don’t know too much about coal other than it’s something kids could get in their stockings and that it was the theme for District 12 in the Hunger Games, which was coal mining. But it is also said that coal is something that can handle pressure exceptionally well. I guess if one becomes a diamond then they have to go through a certain kind of transformation. Maybe even a metamorphosis if you will. But I like the coal the way as described because it just is. Like maybe when we become diamonds there’s still a little coal left inside of us. Before we become clear, sparkly and classic. Although, not all diamonds are crystal-like. Some have added color to them, making them even more rare. Just something I gave some further thinking too.

Cleaning Out Day Entry

My closet isn’t fancy. It doesn’t have designer brands or clothes but I try to have a style that’s casual and comfortable. Today is Cleaning Out day. Part of an on going process that’s going to be taken place besides just the doors to my attire. It’s a goal that I’ve been working on early this morning. Most mornings I’m usually unproductive, on social media a lot, and watching television or something. Now that I think my chore is complete I am happy going back to those things. I have a rather small closet with not a lot of space. So when it’s filled with things that are no longer relevant it just adds and collects. It started out with being in the mood to and having a little motivation to get something taken care of. Then next thing I know I can see floor space again and have extra room! I’m not thinking I need more clothes. I have been doing enough clothe shopping as of lately that now I can just enjoy wearing them. The actual getting rid of items wasn’t a problem for me. No, it was more like part of the enjoyment.

So in conclusion, I now have a pretty closet.

Why I Dislike The Term: Potterhead

The Harry Potter books have been a very important part of life, since childhood. Yet I’ve always hated the official terminology given to people who also love the book and movie series. It may seem childish and immature of me but it kinda gives it a bad name. I won’t go into too much detail but I could have settled with a different title. To me, the name just doesn’t rub in the right places where I want to formally be one. All the while knowing, I am every little bit of one. So it’s a weird place to be in for a fan. I know what house I’m in, which is Hufflepuff. I have more than one copy of some of the books. I’ve been to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios. If the movies are playing on tv, don’t tell me anything important because I am not in the mood. I don’t think JK Rowling is always a queen no matter of what kind of writer she is. I mean stop releasing new information about one of my favorite thing please! Etc. Etc. Is it just a Kimberly Anne thing? Or is it a fan thing? On wheather Potterhead works to describe a person who loves them. How did this get decided to have it be official because I didn’t get a weigh in. Oh I just did a rough Google search for the topic and discovered Pottermania. Yes, I like that one.

Anyways, it may be an unpopular opinion but just shedding some light on the matter.

Bazinga Entry

“Ah, gravity thou art a heartless b*tch.”

For those that know me well, Harry Potter is the main fandom of choice but there is another well liked one that also brings lots of happiness. This is a television series called the Big Bang Theory starring Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco. There are other star worthy actors in this show as well but those are the three main characters. This was Jim Parsons’s breakthrough role as Sheldon Cooper. Johnny Galecki played Rusty in National Lapoon’s. And Kaley Cuoco was Bridgette in 8 Simple Rules. What I love about the show the most is it’s humor and friendship. I remember the dark days when I at first didn’t like the show. Then it grew on me to become a favorite.

Now it’s hard to believe that I’m saying goodbye for the last time. The final episode is this tonight.

Can’t wait to see what these stars will do next in their career.

This is a picture of myself decked out in my BBT outfit. I’m wearing a Soft Kitty t shirt that go figure I try to only wear when I’m sick. I’m also wearing a science symbol charm necklace.

Southern Belle Creative Piece

Today is a good day as any to go back to those roots
So she pulled out dem pearls and cowgirl boots
A shiny, cream colored bead on it’s string
She learned once again to fly with her own wings
Never once did she want to learn how to shoot
Because Bambi was all she could think about
This new phase in her life was like a never ending drought
Containing all things having to do with high heels and lipstick
So she finally put away her precious stones and kicks
Thinking all was well
Couldn’t hide knowing she was a true Southern belle

10 Things About Me

“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” ~ Roald Dahl

* * *

#1. My earliest childhood memory is having a periwinkle blue bedroom.

#2. I always choose purple as my color because of my birthstone, which is an amethyst.

#3. I’m not a big phone talker. I can depending on the person but almost always usually prefer text messages.

#4. I’ve been blogging since I went back to school. I’m still blogging even though I’m not in school anymore.

#5. When I went to community college the first time, I was studying Hospitality. When I went back to school, I studied Businesses Administration and Human Resources. I don’t really miss school. I liked the learning but struggled with the grades and tests.

#6. I think one of my first CDs I owned, was Wide Open Spaces by Dixie Chicks. It’s still somewhere in my music collection I hope.

#7. I can watch the Harry Potter movies over and over again. I’m always in the mood for a marathon. I probably should reread the book series in my adult years, I’ve only read 1 - 3 because of the illustrated versions. I like having different covers of the first book.

#8. My favorite flowers growing up were tulips but now I’m currently liking hibiscuses. Tomorrow it could be something else so idk.

#9. I think none of the guys from Friends are hot or attractive. I think that each of their personality has a unique quality about them that makes it still fun to watch. Like Joey and his love for food.

#10. I don’t ask, what would Beyoncé do? I ask, what would Adele do?

Catcher of Dreams Entry

*Artwork*

There’s an instrument that hangs on my wall,
That makes my nightmares seem so small.
It dangles on the space close to my bed,
Leaving only good thoughts in my head.
Filling tomorrow with beginnings and hopes,
Promising to silence any doubts and nopes.
This instrument has no end and some feathers,
Where peace and a dreamless sleep go well together.
Night turns to day with a radiant sun beam,
This instrument is the catcher of dreams.

Entry

I now want a hibiscus charm necklace and not just any one will do either. One that I can wear during Spring and Summer, one that I can take with me on the occasional beach trip, and one I can just wear to feel girly. That would be good and symbolic. I don’t know what it is but I do like jewelry. It’s one of the few ways I can have fun with and be in touch with my feminine side. I don’t know where I’m going to find this but hopefully it will be sooner verses later verses now or never.

The rain that has been pouring heavily from the skies hasn’t been making this Monday any easier. Around 9:45 this morning, I just remembered sitting and starring out the window thinking this is bad. I can’t drive in this. The atmosphere was so dark and stormy. So I rescheduled something I had going on today for a different time. Hopefully, it won’t be raining then either. Not long afterwards, was there an announcement for a severe thunderstorm in certain counties.

This mood has put me in a paradise one. Wishing I was somewhere else even though I just had two completely amazing time off. A place where clear blue waters exist, with feet in the sand and pretty flowers. Ah, oh so tropical. Where one can always be shore of themselves.

Anyways, need to not have my head somewhere else and back in the present.

If I were a local Island girl for the day I would not leave the waterside whether that may be beach or pool. Just relaxing with a book, some music and something to drink. Wearing a favorite pair of sunglasses and a swimsuit that doesn’t make me hate it. This goes without saying, but there would be a bright, blue sky too. Maybe there would be some seagulls flying overhead or to a near part of the water where there was a pod of dolphins. Hawaiian roller coaster ride.

Only One Karen Roe

Karen Roe is a fictional character on the popular teen show, One Tree Hill. She is a single mother to her son, Lucas Scott. She doesn’t have the easiest deck of cards to deal with but she tries to make it right. She is a business owner of a cafe and nightclub. Not only is she the actual birth mom to her child, she is also seen as a respectable parental figure to some of the son’s friends. I.E. Haley, Brooke and Peyton. She gives support and advice. She went to the same high school as the kids.

Over the years, there have been many portrayals of the mom character in both television and movies. I picked Karen Roe to celebrate Mother’s Day with because she is a Carolina based family member and doesn’t drink a lot of coffee or talk so fast. No offense to the show, Gilmore Girls because that’s one of my faves too.

Mother’s Day is here which means time togetherness and sometimes means cards, flowers, food, and/or gifts. Actually, in the restaurant industry, Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year because Mom’s don’t want to have to cook or do the dishes.

How does one celebrate their holiday?

Life Lessons From A Book Entry

I love reading. Yes sometimes I take a break from it because I think it’s necessary. Doesn’t mean that I’m going to suddenly start not liking books. I’ve been thinking of little life lessons we can all learn from them. Here are a few I’ve come up with:

- Always have a spine
- Don’t be afraid to start a new chapter
- Some stories stay with us
- Don’t forget to read between the lines
- You can’t always judge a book by it’s cover
- Never go to bed alone

And last but not least:

- Be of good character

Be A Hermione Entry

So I’ve been kinda thinking of something a little silly as of lately. You know those self help books like How to be an Audrey or How to be a Hepburn. Well I thought of one that might relate to a whole different kind of audience and fandom. How To Be A Hermione In A Pansy Parkinson World. Pansy Parkin is a Slytherin schoolmate of hers. Or Millicent Bulstrode works too but alliteration is nice at times. Anyways, how to be more like Hermione:

- It’s okay to have guys as best friends
- Always be in the library or with a book
- Volunteer at a good cause or be really true to her and start one’s own

And lastly:

- Learn to be proud of your family history or background

It’s a long shot but maybe Jordan Christy would even be into it.

Shiny Things Entry

“Life is too short to wear boring jewelry.”

It’s not a secret that I’m big into wearing jewelry. I have a bulletin board filled with necklaces that hang and a box that has lots of earrings and rings. I’m quite lucky to be able to have that. I can honestly say I try to wear the most out of my sparkles. I like to wear them with my outfits. Whether they may be casual or comfortable. I particularly like necklaces and rings. The thing is though I have a differently shaped neck and try to get longer length chains.

There is a delightful local jewelry place that usually fixes all my needs for that. I have been shopping there for many years. I love talking about it with other people because turns out I’m not their only shopper.

I tried to do a Google search on about people who like jewelry and didn’t get much. Like is there psychology behind it or just a preference to the person. I do also know their are people who can’t stand wearing certain types of jewelry.

What type of jewelry person are you? The kind that loves it or is like yeah it’s nice but I’m okay.

Fireflies in the Backyard Entry

Hello everyone!

Those cold, winter months are finally behind us. Spring has hit with clouds of yellow-green and pretty flowers. The summer equinox is upon us and am feeling nostalgic. I used to think of a Southern summer as nothing but sort of magic. The sultry nights just sitting in a driveway or on a porch help capture the moment. Sometimes even a long walk in the heat cured all bad things. However, now I have mixed feelings about the season. Sometimes it’s too hot to do the things one really wants to do. One thing that still brings a smile is seeing those lightening bugs in the backyard against a blanket of navy blue. While I wouldn’t exactly want to fly near me, the sight is still pretty and simple. Reminds me of the days spent at church events, singing, ‘This Little Light of Mine.’

Not sure what the summer will bring for me this year. As of right now, there’s nothing definite with only a few wants of where to go locally. It’s okay though. Things will finally feel back to normal after all the fun having had.

All in all, summer is on it’s way and will soon be here to stay.

I’ll Be There For You Entry

Yesterday, embarked the day when the series final aired on the popular television show, Friends. You can still watch the episodes on tv networks and Netflix. Out of all the characters on the show, my favorite main character, is Phoebe. What I liked most about her was eccentricness. She wasn’t afraid to let her weirdness show whether it was something funny or through her songs. She stood up for her beliefs, is sensitive and caring.

Favorite Part About Being On A Plane/Airport

This time last week, I was spending a fair amount of time at the airports or being on a plane. There were a lot of things that I thought about such as what’s one favorite part? Is it the snacks/beverage, is it being able to look out the window, is it getting some sleep or rest, is it meeting new people, or could it be the take off? No my favorite part of being on is the actual destination itself. Knowing where the flight is taking me. Sometimes depending on where we’re going I can’t get sleep because of excitement. Sure the actual time spent on plane can be tideous but hopefully it won’t be that long or bad.

Scared To Death Entry

Not so much being scared to death but my anxiety definitely kicks in when I see a huge flight of stairs. I can climb a normal subset of stairs like in a house but say if I were taking the subway or a train and there were more than an equally flight of stairs then I would start breathing heavily more than normal. This only happens when I’m ascending the stairs not going down them. When going down, I’d like to think it’s because I’m just really happy to be getting off them. So it makes it okay. I don’t believe I have a fear of heights. And while I might feel weighted down and things tightening while climbing up the steps I try hard to still beat what I am experiencing.

It’s not like I’m thinking the staircase is going to jump out and yell Boo! But sometimes when I see a more than average staircase I have to brace myself and mentally prepare. I read this interesting article, and there is an actual term for what kind of fear I have, which is climacophobia.

This is a recent thing that has taken place. It hasn’t always been like this. Like if this were Harry Potter I’d be curious to see if my boggart took form of a staircase. Maybe it would be tall and wide, or maybe it would be spindly. Either way staircases oh my!

Happy Birthday Adele Entry

Oh what a good weekend this has been. Not only was it Audrey Hepburn’s birthday yesterday, it has also been Derby day, Cinco de Mayo, and now it’s one of my favorite musician’s birthday!

She has been one of my favorites for a long time. She has been there through some really hard and dark times. I became a fan when I heard Twenty One not quite fully aware of the amazingness of Nineteen. In our family, we kind of have a likeness with certain singers. For my grandfather, I think it’s Johnny Cash. With my Uncle, it’s Springsteen and with me it’s her. I also adore Twenty Five. I hope that she continues to make music. She’s been kinda off the grid for a while now.

My all time favorite songs by her are:

#1. Someone Like You
#2. Set Fire To The Rain
#3. Rolling In The Deep
#4. Hometown Glory
#5. River Lea

If one hasn’t heard her soulful music yet, I strongly encourage them to pick up an album ASAP.

When You Wish Upon A Star

Today on the blog I am going to share my personal favorite Disney flicks. Just Disney themed. I like a good Disney movie just as much as anyone even though I’m not exactly a kid anymore. I think sometimes it reaches out to an audience who simply likes to wish upon a star. They’re feel good and the ones that are animation is close to perfect.

#1. Tangled

#2. Moana

#3. Beauty and the Beast (Emma Watson remake version)

#4. Alice In Wonderland (Tim Burton)

#5. The Incredibles

#6. Frozen

#7. Toy Story

#8. Monster’s Inc.

#9. Lilo and Stitch

#10. Princess Diaries

Book Post

Right now, I’m currently reading the Adventures of Alice In Wonderland. I picked up this classic in a bookstore at Paris. I’m really enjoying it because I grew up with the movies but never having read the actual story. So it’s fun to have something memorable and following it along. I like both movie versions. The original Disney film and the Tim Burton one, which I realize is also Disney.

However, I can always find the income to spend my extra money on books. There always seems to be more of that I want. For personal reasons, I am not going to disclose the author or the book title because don’t want to give the wrong impression or bad idea. I would really like to read this new book release that came out in April. I love some of her other previous works and the author is coming out with a different book later this year. This one I will hopefully be reading. The setting reminds me of a bad time in my life and don’t want it to trigger anything upsetting. The characters seem to be lovely but I don’t know. So I’m really torn here. I would like to buy the book especially because of it’s adorable dedication but I probably won’t even check out of the library. I am a fan but sometimes it’s a hit or miss. Same thing with a different book written by this author. Couldn’t make it through without being reminded of painful events. So what is it that I’m experiencing? Setback? Withdrawal? Caution? Or something more? Me don’t know. So my apologies to this author. There are books that I have read from them that are incredibly good and can’t put down. I just feel like I’m missing out but trying to take care of myself too.

Happy Birthday Audrey Entry

Today marks what would have been the 90th birthday of the beloved Audrey Hepburn. She’s been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember. In honor of her celebration, I am reciting some of the quotes she had said:

  • “The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.”
  • “Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering - because you can’t take it all in at once.”
  • “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others: for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”
  • “Paris is always a good idea.”
  • “I believe in pink. I believe that laughter is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in be strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”

Movie Post

Today marks the fifteenth anniversary of the movie Mean Girls. There are so many talented actors and funny lines in this film that makes memorable and a classic of today. It even has a Broadway musical after it. The movie is based off of a book too I think.

I was a freshman in high school when this movie came out. It was between this movie and Napoleon Dynamite that were popular.

It’s impossible to pick just one quote from here to show.

A Creative Piece

The Forgetful Foot

Oh no, which way do I go?
Which direction to choose, nobody knows.
Should I go left or should I go right?
If I go backwards would that cause a fright?
Or maybe I should keep going straight,
The souls of these feet can’t handle all this body weight, anymore
Smooth pavement to walk on to cobbled stones,
Forgetfulness and confusion are gone.

First Entry

Hi and welcome to thekimberlyanne blog! I am so excited to continue this blogging experience and share personal favorites, ideas and thoughts. I wanted to start by sharing why I created this blog. I brought this to life because it is a form of communication and self expression. A place on the Internet where I can get creative and go with its changes. Overtime, I’ve morphed into different outlets and this is the one I’m with. I’ve learned a lot through blogging. Not just with myself but my entries have evolved through the ages. They started out completely unique. Then they got a little too personal. Then they became more like articles. With this blog, it is my hope it will be a combination of the above including getting in touch with one’s self. I choose Blogger through Google because I don’t need a fancy place to write. Just let me throw in some words and occasional pictures and we’re good. Can’t wait to start this journey with all of you.
